It's Game Time!

I'm excited to say that I'm realizing a lifelong dream! What could be more thrilling than starting a business that allows me to be involved in sports, help kids and make a difference!

I grew up playing 'football'/soccer wanting to be Pele, Maradona, Marco Van Basten and Romario. In my late teens, I picked up basketball dreaming of being Jordan and Magic Johnson. I've also enjoyed watching a variety of other sports. I believe the self-confidence to build my own company directly comes from having played sports as a child.

There's something really special about sports, it truly is an experience. For a child, whether it ends up being a positive or negative one, depends on the League, coaches, parents, safety and the environment.

Sports should be a FUN and memorable experience. How do we keep it fun? We hear so many stories about all the negatives surrounding youth sports today; violent behavior by sports parents, abuse of referees, too much pressure on young athletes as a result of overly competitive youth leagues. Many kids start playing organized sports, but according to research done in the US, more than 70% drop out by the time they turn 12 years old.

Someone needs to take full responsibility for making organized sports FUN for kids again. They deserve it! That's where the Sports League programs by 'Mr. Excellent' can help. What makes us different is our focus on every child's enjoyment of the game, our terrific organization and professionalism as well as our big emphasis on safety and sportsmanship. Our goal is to revolutionize youth sports and provide a model that the rest of Canada might emulate.

On this blog, I will be posting interviews with sports parents, stories, links to great websites and a whole lot more. Feel free to comment on my postings.
